...April Music
Unfortunately, I have nothing terribly exciting to present for music. but, here's the overview...
April 4th:
The Flaming Lips – ”At War With The Mystics”: The Lips are back! More wonderful, trippy acid pop.
Pink – ”I’m Not Dead”: I am sure many of you wish she was and it came close with that last album. I am not so sure that an acoustic song about Bush featuring the Indigo Girls is going to help much though.
April 11th:
Daniel Powter – ”Daniel Powter”: I think I downloaded this a few months ago out of curiosity and then promptly deleted it. However, “Bad Day” sure snuck up on me and I kind of like it. I am seeing a shift to “safe male pop” again (think James Blunt.) Maybe John Mayer should get ready for a comeback.
Toby Keith – ”White Trash With Money”: Toby just keeps churnin’ ‘em out don’t he? Did that sound white trash enough? Now where’s my money?
April 18th:
Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs – ”Under The Covers, Vol. 1”: Matt & Sue teamed up previously for some fun in the last Austin Powers flick. They expand their laid back vibe to some wisely chosen cover tunes. Sit back and enjoy.
Dresden Dolls – ”Yes, Virginia”: DD is completely under the radar but there are some wonderful songs on their last effort (namely “Coin Operated Boy.”) They have a unique sound that mixes up cabaret, pop and a very slight touch of goth. Sounds fun doesn’t it?
April 25th:
Bruce Springsteen – ”We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions”: I was all excited about this until I realized it would not feature classics like “Like A Rock” and “Against The Wind”. Then I also realized it was songs by Pete Seeger and his last name is spelled differently.
