...Kylie's Body Language

The return of Kylie is upon us - finally! Kyles has successfully battled her cancer and is back on the scene. She first emerged with some photos taken by her lover at a Dolce & Gabanna event. Take a look at her with her lovely short hair...

She's looking healthy and gorgeous. She attended the recent Scissor Sisters in NY and rumour is that she is doing some more material with them. It's good to see her back at work. It was already announced that her Showgirl tour would finally make it to Oz early next year.

On a related note, I am working on a Relay for Life Team to support a cure for cancer. I have lost many family members to various forms of this disease and look forward to finally help out. However, PLEASE do not let it out that I am helping a cause. I have a reputation to maintain.

...Chloe O'Brian

Oh, Chloe, how I used to despise you so. As a comedienne, I loved you. Your wonderful performance in "Dude, Where's My Car?" and short stints on HBO's "Mr. Show" entertained me.

Then came your dramatic turn to "24". Your acting was as bad as your attitude. That first season was a doozy for you, but you slowly started to feel at ease with your new role. Soon, you became an internet darling. People cheered, but I never relented to your newfound stardom.

Now, that has changed. It may have taken a couple seasons, but now you are bad-ass. You manage to wriggle your way out of ANY situation. You put your ass on the line for Jack and rarely fail him. This season you have yielded firearms and escaped CTU custody by threatening the "Sexual Harrassment Panda" with a smackdown. Even I believed you would get that crazy biatch put away.

Bravo, Chloe. All this and you are a D-town girl. You make the Michigan Militia proud!

...The Beginning of the End

I am so glad Alias is back! I may have forgot exactly where it left off since it was gone so long (thanks a lot Violet !), but I got right back into the excitement.

There are some reasons to be glad about the cancellation of the show. All those reasons are the slew of returning cast members and guest stars!

*******SPOILERS********

It was no terrible surprise that Vaughn has returned. However, rumor has it that it was planned all along and was not simple stunt to end the series with or a reply to fan’s reactions over his death. In fact, Vaughn was originally supposed to be held captive by Irina but the actors’ schedules did not coincide (ah, how art and commerce mix.) It will be interesting to find out if Sydney knew about Vaughn all along. Some fans have posted some interesting observations regarding this and past episodes that may indicate a set up for that scenario. It would help me believe that Vaughn survived that 4,815,162,342 bullets if Syd and Jack were in on it. Maybe it ties in to the whole “My name is not Michael Vaughn” thing. Maybe the real Vaughn never died?!

In addition to Vaughn, we can expect Will to return (as soon as next week I think – I did not see previews) along with Sark and Evil Francie. Hopefully the return of these characters will fill in the wasted time that is the newest additions to the APO staff. In fact this whole Thomas grace/The Cardinal/Witness protection crap better lead us back to our main story – Rimbaldi.

I shall wait (im)patiently as this all unfolds…

...April DVDs

It's a good month to stay in and rent. Although I have not seen all of these, they at least look interesting.

April 4th:
Brokeback Mountain: Flash forward 5 years or so: “Crash? What was that about? I’m going to go out on a limb and predict they would not say that about this masterpiece.

Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe: A fun, but ultimately empty film version of the beloved book series.

Crash – The Director’s Cut: In case we did not get the point of the movie when it was bashed against our heads the first few hundred times, Paul haggis want to add a couple hundred more ways to get it across.

April 11th:
Fun With Dick & Jane: This box office hit proved Jim Carrey can still bring in the numbers, but I’ll hold off for his more “Eternal Sunshine…” –type roles.

April 18th:
Mrs. Henderson Presents: I highly recommend this one. Yes, it is on the cutesy side, but the acting and writing is spot-on.

Hostel: I still love “Cabin Fever” although hindsight does seem to indicate that the best moments of the film were not necessarily due to Eli Roth’s writing and directing although the tone was perfect. I have been putting off this one as it has been presented as a “Saw” rip-off and seems to take itself too seriously. I hope I will be proved wrong upon viewing.

April 25th:
Match Point: I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this film. I missed it in the theater and cannot wait to visit it on DVD.

Shopgirl: Another acclaimed film I look forward to catching up with. I hope I can overlook the strange Claire Danes and Steve Martin pairing.

...April Movies

Let's all go to the movies, let's all go to the movies...or maybe not. I am underwhelmed yet again by any films that compell me to make that trip out.

April 7th:
Take The Lead: Thank you very much “Dancing With The Stars”!

Guys & Balls: Brokeback Soccer indeed! This German import was actually made before the BM phenomenon and expect a bit more fun and a lot less crying.

April 14th:
Scary Movie 4: Okay, so #3 vastly improved the series, but that is not saying much. However, Chingy apparently makes an appearance, so who knows.

April 21st:
American Dreamz: The trailer indicates this could be a smart, funny send up of both American Idol and President Bush. However, it also indicates this could be a dud if the writing isn’t sharp enough.

Silent Hill: Hold up a minute. This is a horror film that is not a remake of some Japanese or classic horror film? Am I crazy? Somebody please enlighten me if you have news to the contrary. Oh, and the trailer looks spooky too.

April 28th:
United 93: Maybe you feel different, but I am not ready for a 9/11 film yet. Going by the trailer, the movie looks respectful of the incident and not too sensational. However, I am not really sure what artistic merit it can offer so soon after the tragic events.

Sympathy For Lady Vengeance: The final part of the Vengeance Trilogy is upon us. I have only seen “Oldboy”, but if you are into bloody Japanese movies this one should be for you.

...April Music

Unfortunately, I have nothing terribly exciting to present for music. but, here's the overview...

April 4th:
The Flaming Lips”At War With The Mystics”: The Lips are back! More wonderful, trippy acid pop.

Pink”I’m Not Dead”: I am sure many of you wish she was and it came close with that last album. I am not so sure that an acoustic song about Bush featuring the Indigo Girls is going to help much though.

April 11th:
Daniel Powter”Daniel Powter”: I think I downloaded this a few months ago out of curiosity and then promptly deleted it. However, “Bad Day” sure snuck up on me and I kind of like it. I am seeing a shift to “safe male pop” again (think James Blunt.) Maybe John Mayer should get ready for a comeback.

Toby Keith”White Trash With Money”: Toby just keeps churnin’ ‘em out don’t he? Did that sound white trash enough? Now where’s my money?

April 18th:
Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs”Under The Covers, Vol. 1”: Matt & Sue teamed up previously for some fun in the last Austin Powers flick. They expand their laid back vibe to some wisely chosen cover tunes. Sit back and enjoy.

Dresden Dolls”Yes, Virginia”: DD is completely under the radar but there are some wonderful songs on their last effort (namely “Coin Operated Boy.”) They have a unique sound that mixes up cabaret, pop and a very slight touch of goth. Sounds fun doesn’t it?

April 25th:
Bruce Springsteen”We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions”: I was all excited about this until I realized it would not feature classics like “Like A Rock” and “Against The Wind”. Then I also realized it was songs by Pete Seeger and his last name is spelled differently.
